Creating a Supportive Environment: Breastfed Babies in Child Care
This workshop will focus on the need to create supportive environments for mothers and families who have decided to breastfeed and provide breast milk to their babies. Learn about strategies to make your program ‘Breastfeeding Friendly’. Challenges families face as well as guidelines for milk storage will be shared. Local resources; lactation services; and information about new public policy legislation that supports breastfeeding will be given. Local and National campaigns will be highlighted. Data from the Milwaukee County WIC program will be shared to discuss needs and gaps. Tips caring for children who are breastfed will also be shared.
